Do You Need Profit Improvement For Your Business – Post 6
Would you like to increase your business’s profit? If your answer to the question is YES, then read on.
As mentioned in my previous posts there are various big-ticket items that can be included in your Profit Improvement Plan, the implementation of which can have an immediate impact and positively increase your business’s profit.
This is the sixth in this series of posts covering the big-ticket items that can help make the difference and boost your business’s bottom line:
Overhead Review
Where it concerns Profit Improvement options, we have found that a surprising number of businesses neglect to conduct a full review of their overheads.
A regular finding when conducting a full Overhead Review (including historical comparisons) with clients, is that businesses are paying too much for some overheads. What is more, they are often still paying for services that they no longer use, including but not limited to:
- Insurance on assets the business no longer owns
- Hire charges on equipment that has been returned to the supplier including:
- Mobile phones for past employees
- Leased company cars for past employees
- Leased computers for past employees
In some of these cases the actual unused equipment may still be on your premises.
- Landlines that no longer exist
- Software licenses being paid for software you no longer use
- Unapproved price increases in services such as cleaning
In addition to the above there can also be easily avoidable overheads caused by ‘waste’, such as not turning the lights out at night
